Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNBC that "on September 23rd, all the Iranian airlines will be shut down around the world," warning that anyone who fuels them, provides landing services or sells their tickets "will be knocked out of the dollar system." Treasury had sanctioned all remaining Iranian airlines earlier in September.

Why it matters
