Apparent U.S. bunker-buster strike near Isfahan sets off massive secondary blasts

A strike early Tuesday outside Isfahan, near Mount Soffeh, produced huge fireballs and secondary explosions consistent with an ammunition store igniting, in video Trump shared without comment. Al Jazeera's Tehran correspondent said a large number of bunker-buster bombs were dropped on a mountainous area next to the city; Iran did not formally acknowledge the attack.

Why it matters

Isfahan hosts one of the nuclear sites the U.S. bombed in June and is believed to hold part of Iran's highly enriched uranium, which the U.S. has suggested it could try to seize.
