CENTCOM says Hormuz shipping lanes cleared of Iranian mines as blockade continues

In a video posted Thursday evening, CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper said Navy divers and SEALs, backed by U.S. aircraft, had cleared Iranian sea mines from the Strait of Hormuz's international shipping lanes, declaring that 'today, international shipping lanes are open.' He said U.S. forces had helped nearly 1,500 commercial vessels carrying about 750 million barrels of crude through the strait, while the blockade of Iranian ports stays in force.
Why it matters
Traffic had not caught up with the claim: Reuters data cited by The Times of Israel counted seven commodity vessels crossing the previous day against a 10-day average of 15, and Iran's IRGC Navy called the announcement a lie.
