Bahrain's foreign minister, Abdullatif Al Zayani, read a joint statement on behalf of 80 UN member states condemning Iran's attacks on neighbouring countries and Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, and calling for the urgent and complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without transit fees, conditions or other burdens.
Why it matters
The no-fees language rejects any Iranian toll regime for the strait, a sticking point in any settlement, as Tehran and Oman press their own arrangement for managing passage.
