Smoke was seen rising near the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait and fire then broke out inside the compound after an Iranian attack, as the embassy told Americans to shelter indoors and "not come to the Embassy."
Why it matters
Iran's retaliation reached U.S. diplomatic premises as well as bases, a day after Washington allowed non-essential diplomats to leave Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
