Houthi attacks early Tuesday hit 'civilian and economic facilities' in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, wounding 73 people including women and children, the Saudi-led coalition said. The Energy Ministry said fires broke out at several oil facilities and utilities and some operations were temporarily halted; the Houthis said they fired dozens of missiles and drones at Aramco sites in Najran and Abha, a Jazan industrial hub and King Khalid Air Base.

Why it matters

The heaviest Houthi strike on the kingdom in years put Saudi Arabia's Red Sea export route, its outlet while Hormuz is shut, in the line of fire, and Riyadh signalled retaliation.
