Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Al Jazeera that Tehran had reviewed a letter from U.S. Vice President JD Vance and viewed Washington's effort to open dialogue as a positive step. He said there were no plans to meet U.S. officials and that an aide was in Qatar to continue consultations through mediators over Iran's conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Why it matters
Negotiations over Hormuz access remain routed through mediators rather than a scheduled direct U.S.-Iran meeting.
