Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi told the Mehr news agency that Iran insisted, at minimum, on 50 percent of its frozen funds being made available immediately upon signing a memorandum of understanding with the U.S., with the money released no more than one to two months after the deal.
Why it matters
Trump said two days later that a deal would not immediately unfreeze Iranian assets, leaving the funds one of the main gaps in the talks.
