Iran's Martyrs' and Veterans' Affairs Organization said at least 1,230 people had been killed by U.S. and Israeli strikes as of March 4, up from just under 1,000 in the previous official count. The U.S.-based rights group HRANA counted 1,114 civilian deaths, including 181 children, with 926 more deaths under review.
Why it matters
The official count had risen from 787 reported by the Iranian Red Crescent on March 3, and it has not been independently verified.
