Iranian cruise missile hits QatarEnergy-chartered tanker Aqua 1 off Ras Laffan

Qatar's Defence Ministry said three cruise missiles were launched from Iran; two were intercepted and the third struck the fuel-oil tanker Aqua 1, chartered to QatarEnergy, about 17 nautical miles north of Ras Laffan. The 21 crew were evacuated unhurt, QatarEnergy reported no environmental impact, and UKMTO said one projectile remained unexploded in the engine room.
Why it matters
The strike hit a vessel working for Qatar's state energy company inside Qatari waters near Ras Laffan, a major natural gas facility.
