Israel’s Central Elections Committee certified last week’s parliamentary election result after reviewing 9,069 polling stations and finding no irregularities that compromised the vote. Likud and Shas abstained in the presidium vote; chair Noam Sohlberg cast the deciding vote. President Isaac Herzog began consultations on who should form the next government.
Why it matters
The certification starts the formal government-formation process and weakens Netanyahu allies’ attempt to contest the result, shaping who will control Israeli decision-making during the regional conflict.
