NATO air defenses intercept a fourth Iranian missile over Turkey

Turkey's Defense Ministry said a ballistic missile from Iran entered Turkish airspace and was neutralized by NATO air and missile defense units deployed in the eastern Mediterranean, the fourth such interception of the war. Turkey has not invoked NATO's Article 5.

Why it matters

Turkey has condemned the launches but not invoked NATO's collective-defense clause, which keeps the alliance out of direct involvement for now.
