Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Thursday's strikes would be the largest package of the war, with more than 7,000 targets hit so far, and said all 11 of Iran's small submarines were gone; Gen. Dan Caine said U.S. jets were striking deeper into Iran and had hit more than 90 targets on Kharg Island. A senior administration official told AP the Pentagon had asked the White House for $200 billion in additional war funding.
Why it matters
The request dwarfs earlier war costs and needs Congress, turning the war's duration into a budget fight on Capitol Hill.
