Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said about 140 U.S. service members had been wounded in the war's first 10 days, most of them lightly, with 108 already back on duty and eight severely injured. Seven U.S. troops had been killed in Iranian attacks in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Why it matters

It was the first official count of U.S. wounded; a day later CBS News reported more than 30 troops were still hospitalized with battle injuries, including brain trauma, from the March 1 Kuwait strike alone.
