Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told the UN General Assembly that "the nuclear weapon is in Israel, but the inspectors are in Iran," said Iran seeks no nuclear weapon but will accept no limits on peaceful nuclear technology, and held up photos of children killed in the Feb. 28 strike on a school in Minab. A U.S. delegate walked out during the speech, a day after Trump threatened to "annihilate" Iran.
Why it matters
Pezeshkian paired defiance with an offer of dialogue and negotiations "without accepting the language of force," but his refusal of any limits on enrichment keeps the core nuclear dispute in place as talks on reopening Hormuz continue.
