UAE central bank bars Bank Melli branches from handling transactions with Iran

The UAE central bank prohibited branches of Iran's Bank Melli in the Emirates from executing financial transactions to or from Iran, including trade finance and transfers, citing non-compliance with laws, regulations and supervisory decisions, the state news agency WAM reported.
Why it matters
The UAE hosts the Dubai money channels targeted by Treasury's Operation Economic Outcast, and Treasury Secretary Bessent later said top UAE banks had stopped transacting with Iran.
