QatarEnergy said further Iranian missile attacks early Thursday caused "sizable fires and extensive further damage" at several liquefied natural gas facilities, after Wednesday's strike on Ras Laffan had already extensively damaged the Pearl GTL plant. No casualties were initially reported.

Why it matters

Qatar normally supplies about a fifth of the world's LNG, so physical damage rather than a temporary shut-in threatens to keep supply off the market long after the fighting stops.
