OilPrice.com reported that Qatar agreed long-term purchases totaling 7 million tonnes a year of U.S. LNG from Cheniere and Woodside as reduced Qatari output and restricted Hormuz transits constrain its exports.

Why it matters

The deals redirect Qatar from a major LNG exporter to a major buyer, adding long-term demand for U.S. cargoes that European and Asian importers are also seeking.
