QatarEnergy said it had declared force majeure to affected buyers, formally releasing itself from delivery obligations after it stopped producing liquefied natural gas following Iranian drone attacks on Ras Laffan and Mesaieed on March 2.
Why it matters
Qatar is the world's largest LNG producer; the halt had already sent European and Asian gas prices soaring, and force majeure tells buyers the cargoes will not come on contract terms.
