Drone strike sets fire at the UAE's Ruwais complex; ADNOC shuts its refinery

Abu Dhabi authorities said a drone attack caused a fire at a facility in the Ruwais industrial complex, with no injuries. ADNOC shut the Ruwais refinery, which can process up to 922,000 barrels a day, as a precaution while other operations at the complex continued, a source told Reuters.

Why it matters

Ruwais is the Middle East's largest refinery and the hub of Abu Dhabi's downstream industry, so the shutdown put Gulf fuel output, not only crude shipping, at risk.
