Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry declared the Iranian embassy's military attache, his assistant and three other staff members persona non grata and gave them 24 hours to leave, saying Iran's escalation would affect current and future relations.
Why it matters
Riyadh followed Qatar, which expelled Iran's military and security attaches on March 18, in cutting back Tehran's diplomatic presence as Iranian drones kept targeting its oil-rich Eastern Province.
