The Saudi-led coalition said 100 fighter jets were supporting Yemen government forces in Operation Dawn of Yemen, striking Houthi targets along the Red Sea coast and in Sanaa. Coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said the operation had provided air protection over the Bab al-Mandab strait.
Why it matters
The claimed air cover and strikes could affect access and security conditions around Bab al-Mandab, a key Red Sea shipping chokepoint.
