Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority said the Singapore-flagged GFS Pride sank after an unknown projectile strike caused a fire; all 21 crew were evacuated safely. It also said GFS Giselle sustained hull damage after a projectile strike but reached safe anchorage with all 22 crew.
Why it matters
The incidents remove or damage commercial container capacity on the Hormuz route and reinforce the operational danger for vessels still transiting the strait.
