Strikes on electricity facilities cut power in Tehran and Alborz provinces

Iran's Energy Ministry said power was cut in Tehran, the surrounding region and Alborz province, including Karaj, after attacks on electricity industry facilities; Fars later said the outages were being resolved. The Israeli military said it dropped more than 120 munitions on weapons research and production sites in Tehran that day.

Why it matters

Damage to the grid came as Trump's April 6 deadline for strikes on Iran's power plants approached, and it was not clear the outages were connected to that threat.
