Pakistan says it will host U.S.-Iran talks after regional ministers meet in Islamabad

After hosting the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Islamabad would host talks between the U.S. and Iran 'in coming days' and that both sides had expressed confidence in Pakistan's facilitation. He did not say whether the talks would be direct or indirect, and neither Washington nor Tehran immediately confirmed.

Why it matters

Backing from Riyadh, Ankara and Cairo made Islamabad the main venue for ending the war, but Iran was still publicly denying any negotiations.
