At a White House news conference on the airmen's rescue, Trump said the U.S. had a plan under which "every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night" and power plants would be "burning, exploding," said he was "not at all" concerned about war crimes, and said "free traffic of oil" must be part of any deal. He said the second rescue mission used 155 aircraft; earlier Monday he called the deadline final.
Why it matters
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres's office warned that attacks on civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international law, a day before Trump's deadline.
