In an expletive-laden Truth Social post, Trump said Tuesday "will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran" unless it opened the strait, then posted "Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!" (3:30 a.m. Wednesday in Tehran). He told the Wall Street Journal Iran would have no power plants or bridges standing if it did not act by Tuesday evening.
Why it matters
Iran's UN mission called the threat "clear evidence of intent to commit war crime," and the fixed hour set the clock for threatened strikes on civilian infrastructure.
