U.S. officials gave mediators "clear assurances" that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf would not be targeted, two regional officials and a person briefed told AP; the person said Pakistan had asked Washington to get Israel to take the two off its hit list. Trump said on April 5 that Iran's negotiators had been given "immunity from death."
