US jets disable two empty Iranian tankers trying to reach an Iranian port

CENTCOM said a Navy F/A-18 fired precision munitions into the smokestacks of the empty tankers Sea Star III and Sevda to stop them entering an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman, after US forces disabled a third Iranian-flagged tanker on Wednesday. The IRGC navy warned that any attack on Iranian tankers would be answered with a strike on a US base.
Why it matters
The US was now firing on ships to enforce the blockade, and the IRGC warned it would hit a US base in response.
