The World Food Programme says funding shortages are forcing it to reduce assistance in Gaza from 1.6 million people to 1.1 million. Daily hot meals supplied through community kitchens will fall from 250,000 to 150,000. Families in hard-to-reach areas, including near the Yellow Line, will receive meals every other day instead of daily.
Why it matters
Families reliant on community kitchens will receive fewer meals as winter approaches; two-thirds of Gaza's population relies on food aid.
