Yemen's government bombs Sanaa airport over Iranian flight; Houthis fire missiles at Saudis

Yemen's internationally recognised government said its forces struck the runway at Houthi-held Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing, and all Yemeni airports were closed. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted ballistic missiles the Houthis fired at southern Saudi Arabia, and a Houthi official threatened Saudi 'vital infrastructure'.

Why it matters

It opened a Saudi-Houthi front alongside the U.S.-Iran fighting, putting at risk the Red Sea route Saudi Arabia was using to export oil around Hormuz.
