Drone hits Baghdad's Rasheed Hotel as Kataib Hezbollah says security chief killed

Two Iraqi security officials said a drone struck the top floor of the Rasheed Hotel in the Green Zone, which houses diplomatic delegations and international organizations, causing damage but no casualties. Earlier Monday the Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah announced the death of senior security official Abu Ali al-Askari, and strikes killed eight Popular Mobilization Forces fighters in Anbar.

Why it matters

Iraq was taking fire from both directions, with drones hitting diplomatic sites in Baghdad's Green Zone while airstrikes targeted Iran-aligned militia facilities.
