Satellite images, expert analysis and U.S. and Israeli military disclosures suggest the Feb. 28 blast that killed scores of pupils at a girls' school in Minab, next to a Revolutionary Guard base, was likely caused by U.S. airstrikes, AP reported. A person familiar with the U.S. inquiry told CBS News investigators believe the U.S. may have been responsible because Israel was not operating in the area; the White House said no conclusions had been reached.

Why it matters

The school strike has the highest reported civilian toll of the war, and the next day Trump said without evidence that it was "done by Iran."
