Israel pushes troops deeper into southern Lebanon and orders 80 communities evacuated

The Israeli military said soldiers of its 91st Galilee Division had deployed beyond the five posts Israel already held in southern Lebanon, in what it called an enhanced forward defense posture. It warned residents of at least 80 southern Lebanese towns and villages to leave and not return.
Why it matters
It opened a new Israeli ground push into Lebanon a day after Hezbollah joined the war, and the Lebanese army began pulling back from some border positions.
