Fire crews battled a blaze at fuel storage tanks at Oman's Port of Salalah, the Oman News Agency said, with videos showing thick black smoke and large flames. Kuwait's Foreign Ministry condemned what it called Iran's targeting of the port and its fuel tanks as a "dangerous escalation" that threatened global trade.
Why it matters
Salalah sits on the Arabian Sea, outside the Strait of Hormuz, and Oman had worked as a bridge between Iran and the West, so the fire showed the war's damage reaching both beyond the strait and into a mediator's territory.
