Israel says its troops have taken control of the Wadi Saluki area in south Lebanon

The IDF said 7th Armored Brigade and Egoz commando forces had achieved 'operational control' of the Wadi Saluki stream area, about 10 km from the border, which it called a Hezbollah hub for explosive drones and rocket fire, and that troops and aircraft had struck hundreds of sites and killed more than 50 operatives. It also released footage of an air strike on Hezbollah members fleeing a tunnel near Beaufort Castle days earlier.

Why it matters It pushed Israel's ground presence deeper into south Lebanon as a U.S.-Iran deal that Tehran insisted must cover Lebanon was being finalised.

Fars says Iran is weighing Musk-linked assets in the Gulf and Israel as targets

Iran's Fars news agency said assets and infrastructure linked to Elon Musk's companies in the Gulf and Israel were being reviewed for inclusion on Iran's list of military targets, citing what it called evidence that U.S. and Israeli forces used Starlink, X and other Musk-linked infrastructure in attacks on Iran.

Why it matters It would widen Iran's target list from military sites to commercial technology infrastructure, but no official body confirmed it.

Jordan says it shot down 20 Iranian missiles fired toward Azraq

Jordan's military said air defences and the Royal Jordanian Air Force intercepted 20 missiles launched from Iran toward the Azraq area of Zarqa governorate at dawn, and that falling debris caused no injuries or damage. The IRGC had said it fired 12 ballistic missiles at U.S. aircraft at al-Azraq air base, and the U.S. Embassy told Americans in Jordan to shelter in place.

Why it matters Jordan hosts U.S. aircraft at Azraq, which makes it a target each time Washington strikes Iran; Iran's and Jordan's missile counts did not match.

Debris from intercepted Iranian drones injures girl in Bahrain

Bahrain's interior ministry said an 11-year-old girl was injured and several homes and vehicles were damaged by falling debris after air defences intercepted Iranian drones over Manama and Hamad Town. Iranian state media said the drones targeted the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, which is headquartered in Bahrain.

Why it matters Even intercepted drones are hurting civilians in the Gulf states that host U.S. forces, and Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and the GCC condemned the attacks that morning.

Iranian attack hits Kuwait airport radar as Kuwait briefly shuts its airspace

Kuwait's army said air defences engaged 'hostile aerial targets' after the IRGC claimed strikes on U.S. forces at Ali Al Salem and Ahmad al-Jaber air bases, and the civil aviation authority closed the airspace and diverted flights for several hours. The army later said it had handled 24 Iranian drones in two days with limited damage and no casualties, but the aviation authority told ICAO that the attack had hit Kuwait International Airport's radar that morning, injuring people and seriously damaging air-traffic equipment.

Why it matters The letter to ICAO contradicted the army's no-casualty account and showed Iran's retaliation for U.S. strikes landing on Gulf civil infrastructure, a week after an Iranian strike on the same airport killed one person.

CENTCOM says second night of U.S. strikes on Iran is complete

U.S. Central Command said its forces had completed strikes on Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems and air defence sites across Iran, with Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy assets firing precision munitions. It called the strikes a response to Iran's 'unwarranted and continued aggression'; Iranian media reported explosions in Tehran, Bandar Abbas and along the Hormuz coast.

Why it matters It was the second straight night of U.S. strikes after the downing of an Apache helicopter over Hormuz that Trump blamed on Iran, the most serious breach yet of the April 8 ceasefire, and Iran fired back at Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan within hours.

Why it matters He spoke as the U.S. began a second night of strikes on Iran, two days after Trump pressed Israel to halt its own strikes.

Israeli military confirms Iran's missile attack caused damage at Ramat David air base

The Israeli military confirmed that Ramat David air base in northern Israel was hit during Iran's missile fire earlier in the week, after satellite images appeared to show damage. A military official told AFP the impact was in a non-critical area, most likely from a large piece of shrapnel, with no damage to equipment or personnel, and that it was under investigation.

Why it matters The IRGC had named Ramat David as its target on June 7, and this was the first acknowledged damage from that attack.

Why it matters Iran's foreign ministry then said Gulf states were responsible for stopping U.S. and Israeli attacks from their territory, and the U.S. struck Iran again the next night.

Iran says U.S. strikes destroyed two Sirik reservoirs, leaving 20,000 without water

Fars reported that two water tanks in the Bemani area of Sirik were destroyed during the overnight U.S. strikes, and the Hormozgan water utility said the damage left about 20,000 people in 10 villages without drinking water. Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei called it 'a calculated war crime', and CENTCOM later told CBS it was aware of the reports and looking into them.

Why it matters Civilian water infrastructure is protected under international humanitarian law, and a New York Times analysis suggested the tanks were hit with precision-guided munitions.

U.S. strikes Iranian air defences and radars near Hormuz in three waves after Apache loss

CENTCOM said Air Force and Navy jets began 'self-defense strikes' at 5 p.m. ET on Iranian air defence, ground control and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz, calling them a proportional response to the Apache's downing and to attacks on shipping, and declared them completed about four hours later. Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Jask and Minab across second and third waves, and Fars said two water tanks in Sirik's Bemani district were destroyed.

Why it matters U.S. officials described the strikes as limited, but Iran answered within hours with drone and missile attacks aimed at U.S. bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.

Iran says it did not deliberately target the Apache and had no air operations over Hormuz

Iran's deputy foreign minister told Al Jazeera that Iran did not deliberately target the U.S. Apache and was not behind the incident, but that such incidents could happen 'unintentionally' given the tension in the area. A military source told Iranian state media that no offensive air operations had been carried out in the Strait of Hormuz in the previous 24 hours.

Why it matters The denials came shortly before the U.S. began striking Iran over the helicopter.

Araghchi says foreign forces near Iran are at 'constant risk' after Trump vows to respond

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on X that foreign forces near Iran's territory were 'at constant risk on account of their own human errors, plain accidents, or potentially being caught in crossfire', and repeated that Hormuz is an Iranian-Omani waterway, not international waters. Shortly before Trump's post, parliament speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote: 'We prefer the language of diplomacy, but we speak other languages far more fluently.'

Why it matters Araghchi cast the helicopter's loss as a risk of U.S. deployments near Iran rather than an Iranian attack, and U.S. strikes began within hours.

CENTCOM's public statements said the cause remained under investigation.
